Eartha Kitt early cover of Santa Baby

Santa Baby and My Mother

When your mother sings Santa Baby, the man himself delivers your gifts.

Eartha Kitt's daughter, Kitt, with Santa
The song, Santa Baby was written by Phil Springer, Joan Javits and Tony Springer for my mother, Eartha Kitt. It was originally recorded by her, with Henri René and his orchestra in New York City, in July 1953. The song was a huge hit , andEartha Kitt image and Santa Baby sheet music with album my mother often said that it was one of her favorite songs to record and perform. One of the last times she performed it, was at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in 2006, for President and Mrs Bush.

Many people have recorded Santa Baby, but few people know that there was a second version, This Year's Santa Baby, that my mother recorded in 1954, a year after the original. It never received much attention, but I've always thought it was even more clever than the original... Take a listen...
I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season, filled with love and laughter. Remember ~ Treasure ~ Love.... Kitt
